Have you ever woken up in the morning and thought to yourself, ‘I want my outfit to match my living room!’? If not, it is something to try. That sort of experiment opens up our creativity and helps us understand our space better. Go ahead, don’t be shy.
We went ahead and tried it out based off of what artists wore to the Grammy’s, which is a place for them to truly express themselves through fashion.
Taylor Swift rocked the blues, a beautiful color that calms the mind and soothes our souls. A perfect color for an interior as well. We matched her dress with a beautiful Z Gallerie vase, agate bookends, and some fun Dot&Bo furniture. The colors create a relaxed environment, a true get away.
Joy Villa expressed herself this year at the Grammy’s with texture and color…and lots of it. We chose a Dot&Bo side table that carries some texture and color as well a similar shape as the dress. The clock’s design is loud in texture but calm in color to help balance the loudness of the orange.
Sia is keeping it sophisticated. Black and white a combination that is minimal yet so strong.
The 2014 Grammy red carpet was full of color and inspiration and it is always something I look forward to seeing. I thought it would be fun to elaborate on how I think their interior spaces could be designed based on their red carpet style. Interior design often takes inspiration from fashion and vice versa. Here is how it plays out…
Taylor Swift’s sparkling gown speaks to me in one word, METALLIC! Metallic tones create glamorous, high-end spaces. You can integrate these shiny hues into your home using textiles like throw pillows, or in your accessories like the candle holders, vases or lamps. Mirrored and metallic furnishings also make great statement pieces.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were big winners at the Grammys but also brought their fashion game to the red carpet. For this look, we choose to take inspiration from the sophisticated and masculine elements to their outfits. The modern leather chair paired with the velvet ottoman bring together the luxurious and ultra masculine feel. Teal and black with gold accents is the perfect palate for a swanky bachelor pad!
Beyonce’s red carpet look was white hot! White will always be classic, and in this case soft and feminine. This look features soft fabrics and subtle, tone-on-tone patterns which create the soft look of lace. The wall art and candle holders are inspired by Beyonce’s womanly figure with their curved lines and feminine apepeal.
