Looking for lighting? Let us share some ideas with you!!

Lighting fixtures are one of the most important factors I consider when I design a space. Whether you’ve got tons of natural light, or none at all, a beautiful light is a perfect way to add drama and personality to a room. It’s not just for task purposes, but aesthetically as well! Below I have hand picked some of my favorite fixtures that will add the wow factor to any home for under $500!

Design Within Reach is one of the best places to purchase something unique and modern. Their pieces truly reflect sophistication and originality. Check out these fixtures I found…

The Coral Pendant from Design Within Reach portrays a natural and minimal look. It’s 23.5 inch diameter would be the perfect pendant above a breakfast table!

The Satellite Pendant is another mid century modern option from Design Within Reach. It’s the perfect fixture to create a retro flair in your space! And the large scale makes the fixture have presence!

West Elm is another favorite company of mine that offers a wide range of table lamps, floor lamps, sconces, and chandeliers. You could be shopping for a bedroom, living room or entry and you can always find something at West Elm that wont break the bank! These pendants from West Elm come in an antiqued mercury glass or clear glass. The have a clean and contemporary shape and can go in a transitional or modern space. Depending on the space, adding 1-3 pendants in a row will add a finished look over your island or rectangular dining table with plenty of light! Or even create your own cluster of lights using 3-5 of them together hanging at different heights.

Looking for a floor lamp? Look no more… Pottery Barn has a “Photographer’s Tripod Lamp” that will complement an office, bedroom or even family room, giving off a “well traveled” look.

Another great resource that I use all the time is Lamps Plus. This chrome base lamp would be perfect as a pair for any entry way. It has a four-way switch to control the lighting and a glamourous chrome base design to add a unique look to your room.

Check out our pick for the color of the month!

This month Deep Ocean Blue is the color that I am using for inspiration! Just the sound of it makes me want to dive into a room filled with this hue! A splash of this rich color and it will leave your space looking unique, fresh and modern. Why do we love it so much? Well for starters, it complements neutrals as well as bold reds, yellows and greens. How can you use a color like this? Well don’t worry because there are many options…

To begin, I want to share with you a family room that I designed in beauitful Malibu, California! Inspired by the gorgeous view from the windows, deep blue was the color I decided would capture the mood best. I did not want to over induldge this space with blue, so I carefully chose places to add that rich color. As you can see only a section of the ceiling were painted blue, as well as the back of the bookcases below. To bring this color forward, I added two accent chairs and oversized throw pillows on the sofa. I kept the color scheme neutral with pops of red and green to complete this look of this family room!

Without changing the color of the walls, a rug or piece of furniture in this color can change the look of your space instantly! In the photo below, I found a gorgeous master bedroom design in an all neutral palette with this geometric shaped deep blue rug. This rich color complements the neutral color scheme and adds a defining touch to the room.

An accent wall painted in a deep blue hue, like the one below, adds a peaceful sense to the room. The wall color makes the light furniture pop, and gives the entire space a warm tone. A secret about this color is that it does not take over the neutral palette, but instead becomes apart of it. Don’t forget that light is the key to making a room feel bright!

Deep Ocean Blue can come in all sorts of shades, able to become so dark it looks close to black! To add interest to a room, without using the same color over the entire space, shades of the different color will do just the trick. As a tip a room in deep blue is easily dressed with accessories in shades of reds and yellows.
